Who is Astrud?

About

Alongside the creators of the bossa nova, Antonio Carlos Jobim and Joao Gilberto, Astrud Gilberto, known as the “Queen of Bossa Nova",  helped to put the spotlight on 1960’s Brazilian music and culture.

 

To this day, their legacy continues to inspire musicians of all nationalities to keep the timeless sounds of Brazilian music alive and well.

About the Show

Band members Barbara Mantini, Randy Stirtzinger, Rob McBride, Bill Melymuka, and Kevin Lipischak bring together their individual talents to create a beautiful and uplifting musical experience that transports audiences to the beaches of Brazil.

Their passion for Bossa Nova music is evident in every performance they give, striving to honour the legacy created by Astrud Gilberto, Joao Gilberto, Antonio Carlos Jobim and others, staying true to this unique style, as well as presenting their own take on this music.
